Isabella Mwampamba, Headmistress of Upendo Friends School in Arusha.

Isabella, a God-fearing, vivacious, hard-working visionary for the school, started Upendo in her home when her three young daughters needed a proper school that was taught in English. This was the beginning that has blossomed into an optional boarding school/day school in Arusha for over 250 students from Preschool to 7th grade. Students enter high school in 8th grade.

These students are taught in English, so that they can someday procure jobs in their country and abroad. English is the universal language for all aspects of tourism in Tanzania. It is with great sacrifice that many of these parents send their child to Upendo. There are many other students that would like to attend, but the tuition is not reachable, despite scholarship opportunities at the school. Running a successful private school in any country is impossible without donations and sponsorships. There are opportunities to sponsor a child at Upendo Friends School like Naiposhi.

It has always been Isabella’s dream to learn about education abroad. We sent her to the United States to spend a month in our home, traveling, visiting various schools, and even an opportunity to run the Chicago marathon under World Vision.
